JustRite and Faber-Castell Mixed Media Blog Hop, Day Two!

Welcome to Day Two of the JustRite Papercraft & Faber Castell Mixed Media Blog Hop!  I hope you've been able to visit all the designer's blogs to check out their awesome creations!  And did you get a look at all the prizes?

For a chance to win these fabulous prize packages, please leave comments on each designers blog post.  Two designated mystery designers blogs have been determined and the winners will be selected from those blog comments, so be sure and comment on all participating blogs.  Comments will be open until March 22 at midnight EST.  Good Luck!

I have a birthday card for you today!  It measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" with card front bottom trimmed up a bit to accommodate the Spellbinders A2 Brackett Border die cuts!

The bird chipboard is from Want2Scrap.  I placed one coat of white acrylic paint on the chipboard before heat embossing.  A Grateful Heart Vintage Labels Two sentiment stamp along with one of the sets decorative stamps was stamped using the above ink and clear embossing powder for a heat embossed creation. (be sure to note the bird's eye on the finished card, a Want2Scrap teardrop adhesive pearl)

Three colors of Gelatos were used, Peach and Chocolate (Gelatos Color ct. Neutrals), Green (Mixed Media Sampler, Green).  Gliding the Gelato stick over my stamped heat embossed sentiment and bird was so quick and fun!  Yes, smooth as butter!  Then with a slight wet finger, I rubbed the colors to desired color.

Included in the Mixed Media Sampler is this PITT artist pen that I used to detail the leaves.  When I first applied the lines, I felt I applied too many!  So I used a water mist, and let the color bleed!  After the leaves were dry, I went back in with the pen and drew a few more lines for less detail!

I used a Spellbinders Beaded Oval die #2 to cut the stamped JustRite Grateful Hearts Vintage Labels Two sentiment.  Leaving the die on the sentiment, I applied the Green Gelato and rubbed it until I achieved the color desired!  A few other details regarding my card today, designer papers from PapertreyInk; Prima Trinket flower and Seam Binding from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  The Spellbinders A2 Brackett Borders Dies and Gold Labels Four are found in the JustRite Store by clicking on the bold red wording.

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate your visits! Take good care and have a Terrific Tuesday! Check out the following creations by clicking on designer's name which will take you to each respective blog. Enjoy the creativity and be inspired!

JustRite meets Faber Castell!

Welcome to our Justrite Papercraft Faber-Castell Blog Hop! We will be hopping today and tomorrow!  You'll want to stop over to the JustRite Blog and Faber-Castell Blog and leave a comment because both days feature great prizes to be won! Good Luck! Take a peek at what is being offered in the prize packages!

For my creation I made this 5 1/2" square card. The card base design is accomplished using Gelatos, Butterscotch, Peach, & Metallic Yellow colors.  I circle swirled the color onto my white cardstock and rubbed the circle swirls with my wet finger. Simple color application, simple wet application results in wonderful effect! I stamped my sentiment image from JustRite's Floral Vintage Labels Two with Memento Paris Dusk Ink onto a piece this prepared card stock.

It is true when describing Gelatos, they are smooth as butter!  Oh my!  I love the feel of using this medium.  It can be used dry or wet. For my burlap treatment, I rubbed the burlap with my Gelato stick and left it dry. I slightly misted the cardstock before applying the Gelato treated burlap, pressed it gently onto the card stock and it left this wonderful texture.

A very cool feature of the Faber Castell Mixed Media kits is they include darling clear stamps to use!  After my burlap texture was dry, I applied color to the stamp using the PITT artist pen big brush, Colbalt Blue!  HERE is the kit! So easy to use!

LOVE the texture peeking through the stamped image!  I added adhesive baby Want2Scrap pearls on the stamped image and a pearl swirl behind the flower ribbon treatment. The burlap, flower, and seam binding are found at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. I added a punched circle to the flower center to coordinate with designer paper panel.  Gelatos, Artist Cobalt Blue Big Brush Pen, and stamp is found at Faber-Castell.  JustRite Stamp set, Floral Vintage Labels Two is found HERE.  See you tomorrow for Day Two, make it a marvelous Monday!

Faber-Castell Gelato Information
Gelato Colors are an emollient-based water-soluble medium that glides smoothly onto nearly any surface to create rich swaths of pure color.  They may be blended without water using your fingertip or a blending tool, or with water using a paintbrush or damp cloth. They are often referred to as 'smooth as butter" or like 'painting with lipstick', but there is no oily residue and their water-soluble qualities make them very compatible with other mediums. Use on all types of paper, cloth, canvas, wood and other porous surfaces as well as rubber, foam and clear stamps.  They are available in 22 yummy opaque colors and 6 shimmering metallics.  They are light fast, acid free, archival, odorless, water soluble, permanent and work great on dark surfaces.
Gelatos Colors as a 'Dry" Medium - because of their creamy consistency Gelatos can be used as is, without water, for rich swaths of color covering large surfaces or blended edges on cards and pages.
For basic blending - lay down swaths of solid color and blend together using your fingertip, a Q-Tip or a blending stump.
For edging - draw color along the edge of a card or page and then use a blending tool to fade color inward.  Gold or neutral colors are great for creating an antiqued or grunge effect.
Bold Color - for solid opaque color in a dry medium, nothing gives faster smoother coverage than Gelatos.  Use if for coloring large surfaces or on chipboard shapes.  Raw chipboard absorbs Gelatos for a beautiful, rich finished effects.
To use Gelato Colors as "Wet" Medium - Gelatos Colors are water soluble, which means the pigments will dissolve in water and spread easily to create watercolor effects. Create backgrounds and soft edges as described in 'Dry' medium, but adding water will lighten the color, extend it further and increase the blend-ability. Use a damp paintbrush or a cloth (or baby wipe) over your fingertip to spread and blend the color.  Experiment with varying amounts of water.
Spritzing- You can spray your surface with water and then apply Gelatos or vice versa. Use a stiff paintbrush to blend and move the color around.
Dripping- Create interesting backgrounds by applying Gelatos to one side or in patches across your page.  Use your Spritzer to wet the surface. Tilt your work and let the color drip down the page. Use a foam blender or paper towel to blend or streak further.
Color Spray chop off a slice of Gelatos and blend with water to it to create a watercolor paste to paint your stamped image or scoop this paste into a Spritzer bottle, add more ware and shake to dissolve.  Use this color spray over stencil masks and backgrounds.
To color wash your cardstock - color your cardstock with your gelato and blend with water and a brush to create a multi colored colored wash

If you want to stamp your image and then color it - use Staz-on ink - as this ink is waterproof and will allow you to watercolor the image without it bleeding.
You can also add color to the edge of your card by coloring the edge with gelatos and using a damp foam wedge or paper towel to blend the edge.
If you want to color your stamped image with the Gelatos, before you color your stamp - spritz your stamp with water before coloring the stamp - 3 to 4 sprays is sufficient. When the stamp is wet the color will melt right onto it.  You can easily blend more than one color on one stamp.  Once you have colored your stamp - spritz it again before stamping.  The more you spray the more like a watercolor painting your stamped image will be.
You will get a totally different effect if you don't spritz  your stamp first - both methods work.
Tip: apply metallic Gelatos over any sold color to add a metallic sheen. This can be done Wet or Dry.

Special SurfacesGelatos work on all types of paper, cardboard, chipboard, sandpaper, cloth, canvas, burlap, flocking, cork, wood and some plastics. Some surfaces can tolerate ware better than others, so choose the right surface for wet or dry usage.

Dark Surfaces- Gelatos are gorgeous on dark surfaces. Use them "dry" for maximum opaqueness and the color will stand off the dark background impressively. Try them on black paper, velvet or flocked surfaces and super fine black sandpaper.

Textiles- Gelatos work great on silk, canvas, cotton and woolens! You can create lovely painterly effects on these versatile materials.

Wood- Try Gelatos on wood objects. You can use small mounts of water for blending.  Too much water will make the wood swell and/or warp. Seal porous surfaces with glaze or other fixatives.

Embellishments-Use Gelatos to enhance chipboard shapes, synthetic flowers, cloth-covered buttons or brads, lace, doilies, almost anything you want to add to your artwork can be colored or altered with Gelatos.

NOTE- Gelatos are not "colorfast" on cloth items -machine washing is not recommended.

Mr & Mrs, Our daughter is getting married!

There is going to be a new Mr. & Mrs!  Next month our youngest daughter is getting married!  For those who follow Explore.Dream.Discover. you have been seeing some of the paper crafting we've been doing in preparation for the big day!  Next up is a wedding shower for the couple and this is the invite for the upcoming event!
Here is a close look at the waistband!  I LOVE how this detail looks, the lace trim and silk ribbon lay the perfect foundation for the Want2Scrap adhesive teardrop gems and mini purple pearls.  Actual picture of lace trim and silk ribbon below!

The "Mr & Mrs" image is stamped with VersFine Onyx Black ink.  I cut the image using my SU oval punch and shaded the edging with Memento Plum ink. You can find JustRite's Ever After Antiques Labels One HERE
We made fifty of these babies!  Don't they look pretty?  What a great feeling when they were all completed!  I ordered the precut wedding dresses from an Etsy store!  However, to resemble the actual dress I cut the straight neck line into the above style and scalloped the dress hem.
A ticket corner punch was used on the purple cardstock panel. The oval stamped piece was adhered using ThermOWeb foam dimensionals located HERE.  The wedding dress is attached this way too.
Here is a great look at the looped trim!  It comes in four colors and I adhered mine to the wedding dresses using 1/8" ScorTape.  I left just a tiny bit on each side to tuck around to the underside of the wedding dress.  Find the trim HERE at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.
Here is a look at all the wonderful colors the 1/8" silk ribbon comes in!  Of course you know I already used the beautiful purple as a bow on the dress waistband!  Silk ribbon found HERE. Thank you for indulging this Momma as I continue creating for this most special day!  Take care!

JustRite March Release Day Four

Remember THIS tag from JustRite March Release Day Two?  Well, today is the day I can share the bag it is tagged on and the gift inside the bag!  I am tickled pink how this turned out!  Our youngest daughter had her first wedding shower this past weekend and I added this little gift to her present!  The shower was wine themed and when I saw this idea, I knew I had to give it a try!

And here is a picture of the gift packaged and tagged!  The bag is a repurposed frosted bag I had in my studio!  LOVE how the towel bottle shows through the bag!

Today, JustRite is revealing two sets!  I used both on my bottle label!  To hold the rolled towel, I used straight pins along the back seam!  The actual label is adhered using ScorTape.

JustRite's Grand Damask Background Stamp is a deeply etched rubber cling and clings to any acrylic block.  I stamped this image using Memento Paris Dusk Ink before cutting it out using my Spellbinders Grand Large Label Die. I mounted it upon a larger Grand Label die cut.

Graceful Monogram is a JustRite Clear Set featuring 43 stamps.  I am so thrilled with this set! Monogramming is the perfect way to personalize any and all creations we make!  My creation tomorrow will include this set too!  Colorbox Moss Green ink is used to stamp the decorative image. The initial is stamped with Memento Paris Duck ink with the circle being shaded using the same ink.

This view gives you a peek at the small round die cut I placed atop!  Seam binding is wrapped on the upper bottle and also used to make a bow to embellish the gift!  The heart is die cut using Spellbinders Classic Heart die with a Want2Scrap pearl heart shaped embellishment!

Stop by the following designer's blogs for more inspiration! I know you are going to be amazed at their creativity! See you tomorrow for JustRite's Day Five! Enjoy!

JustRite March Release Day Three

Welcome to JustRite's March Release Day Three!  I am in LOVE with my JustRite project today!  This is a outer cover for a little book that will be gifted to my daughter at her wedding shower early April!  I ordered these 4" x 4" best wishes cards HERE from Oriental Trading to be placed at each place setting. Each guest will write a little advice and well wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs to be!  After the shower I will create a small book using this cover!

Floral Vintage Labels Two is a JustRite cling stamp set featuring 8 stamps!  I stamped the single floral image with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I used Copic Markers to color my image using the marker to marker technique.  I used my blender pen tip as one of my markers, touching it to my colored Copic marker to pick up color.  More info on this technique can be found HERE at Copic marker expert, Marianne Walkers blog.  I love this technique because it look more like a water coloring! Floral Vintage Labels Two coordinated with JustRite Custom Spellbinders Vintage Labels Two.

For the white stamped panel and sentiment I used images from our Thursday reveal set!  Isn't the border lovely?  I cut that panel using a decorative Spellbinders Labels One Die!  The purple panel is also cut using the largest die of this set! A Martha Stewart adhesive pearl for the flower center and tiny Want2Scrap Pearls finish the embellishing!

Thank you for stopping by!  I will see you tomorrow for JustRite Release Day Four!  See you then!

JustRite March Release, Day One

Greetings!  Happy Sunday to you!  Today begins JustRite Papercraft March Release!  And, we are beginning this release with great news!  We're happy to announce a talented new designer to our JustRite Team! That's right, please join me in welcoming Margie Higuchi
Be sure to leave some love on her BLOG!  Welcome Margie, I am thrilled to be working with you!

How about a spring watering can to begin JustRite's March Release?  I found this wonderful water can template on the Splitcoaststampers site HERE.  There are tons of tutorials with lots of great ideas.  I traced the pattern onto my designer paper and cut out.  The tutorial gives step by step directions and was quite easy! To hold all seams and can components together, I used ScorTape.  I love the dependability of this adhesive tape and you can find it HERE at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store!

Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three is a JustRite Clear Stamp Set featuring 29 stamps! It is designed by Amy Tedder of Amy Tedder Designs! I stamped my label sentiment with ClearSnap ColorBox Moss Green Pigment ink. I then the cut the label out using JustRite Custom Spellbinders Vintage Labels Three.  The label edges were shaded using a sponge dauber found HERE

For the butterfly image I used a Faber Castell Marker to color my stamp before stamping onto my cardstock.  I then went over the stamped image lightly with a wet paintbrush.  After it was dry, which did not take long as I used the water sparingly, it was time to try out my new Faber Castell Gelato stick.  It is smooth as butter and was so easy to glide onto my butterfly image! I also used my wet paintbrush to spread the Gelato color a bit! Faber Castell store is HERE.

JustRite's Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three coordinates with Spellbinders Wonderful Wings Die Set.  It is found HERE in the JustRite Store.  Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three also coordinates with JustRite Custom Spellbinder Die Sets, Vintage Labels Two HERE and Vintage Labels Three found HERE!  As you can see, I added a flower stem after gluing a small piece of florist foam to the inside bottom of the can.  Seam binding HERE and adhesive rhinestones HERE finish the embellishing nicely!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I've not been blogging much lately and I apologize for that! But I do have a good reason, our youngest daughter is getting married next month!  So much to do with such little time!  Here is a pic of her and fiancĂ©!  Thanks for indulging this Momma and allowing me to share! Take good care, and I will see you tomorrow for JustRite Release Day Two!
