Fishy Christmas Mens Wear!

This weeks set focus at Flourishes was Men's Wear. This is the first Flourishes set I bought! I have used it over and over for the men in my life and today decided to combine this set with the Limited Supply Challenge over at SplitCoastStampers. The fishy designer paper is from The Paper Patch. It is so old I have no idea where and when I acquired it! I stamped the shirt image on the paper with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I added Copic marker coloring for a red and green festive look, shading to the shirt, and then cut out! Part of the challenge was to make critters into a holiday card! I hope fish will qualify! What does a fisherman hope will catch his fish? A hook of course! But, probably not this kind of ornament hook! The sentiment and ornaments are from the the Flourishes set, O Christmas Tree. I have to let you in on my conversation with my husband regarding this card for his Dad. When I asked him what he thought, he asked if it was a pajama shirt? Then stated, it looks like the tasteless material used for those holiday boxer shorts! Bwahaaaa. And he hates those! Oh well, I tried! For a Merry, Merry Christmas greeting though, I think this will be just fine! But I will pass on the boxers!
Hope you had a good week! I have been so overwhelmed with house showings, my day job and some family matters, I have been missing is action! I hope to get back to the blogging world on an every day basis soon! Thanks so much for stopping in! I DO appreciate it.

IT ONLY TAKES ONE...

GinaK Designs illustrator, Carolyn King recently shared this heartfelt post regarding her recent stamp set, Whimsical Autumn. Carolyn talked about her "Mamo" - her grandma that passed away recently from the effects of Alzheimer's. She told us 100% of her proceeds from this set would go to the Alzheimer's Association, ALWAYS. I had the privilege of serving as a GinaK guest designer and can tell you, this company and their team are one of the best. I applaud Carolyn and GinaK for using their talents to contribute to so many worthwhile causes. It is important to give back, and it is a blessing to participate. I chose this apple basket for my first card. To me it symbolized a grouping, a bunch, plus one. The one apple is Cammie, the bunch is everyone that is connected to Cammie to raise awareness and funds. And, more are being added to the basket to join the fight and raise necessary funds for Alzheimers. It only takes one, one spark to get the fire going! Thank you, Cammie! The apples and basket are colored with Copic markers, simple gold tone hardware with ribbon treatment on the side! Scor pal embossing on top and bottom edges for added interest.
A little more than a week ago, Julie Koerber, Flourishes Design Team Coordinator notified the Flourished DT that they really wanted to contribute somehow to this cause. Many on the Flourishes team too have been affected by this horrendous disease. So, the Flourishes Design Team and Friends of Flourishes Blog Team ordered the set and decided to post a card on a day that means so much, TODAY - September 21st - World Alzheimer's Day.
I chose this pumpkin image and created a card in honor of Julie's Grandpaand all the Flourishes loved ones affected by Alzheimers. Be sure to visit Julie's blog along with the other Flourish DT members, Cindy Haffner, Cindy Lawrence, Leslie Miller, Susan Roberts, Faith Hofrichter, Laura Fredrickson, Jan Marie Caruso, Sharon Doolittle, Nancy Kirk, and Joan Bardee to check out what whimsical creating they have been up to!
It is mind boggling to say the least that 5 million Americans live with Alzheimers. Every 71 seconds, someone will develop it and Alzheimers is the sixth leading cause of death. How humbled, blessed and proud I am to be a small part of this community. Be sure to visit Cammie's blog for more information and spectacular blog candy opportunities!
Have a blessed Sunday, we have another house showing today, had a garage sale this past Friday and Saturday, and I am having blog hopping withdrawl, big time! I can't wait to see what all of you have been up to! See you soon!

Butterfly Moments, Friend

My creation for Friday's SCS Limited Supply Challenge. The stamped butterfly is water colored with my H2O brush and SU markers. Scor Pal used for scoring around butterfly panel, along with distressed edging. Stamp set is from Flourishes, Butterfly Moments. Lavender adhesive pearls, dollar store headed straight pin, and Papertreyink ribbon add the embellishment details. All in all, pretty simple!
Have a great weekend everyone! I will be gone for a couple of days! I hope to get back on Monday and blog hop, I have missed commenting and visiting everyone! See you soon!

Many Blessings, Copic style!

I have been practicing again with the copic markers! I think this fruit lends itself well to copic markers. The fruit image reminds me of still life drawings we drew in college, before computers and you had to hand draw everything! Well, this is by far a much better drawing than I ever could create! I so enjoy watching the fruit come to life when applying color. Click on the picture to enlarge and get more detail of coloring. As a beginnner copic user here are two learned tips, do not be afraid to saturate the image with color, and stamp many images at one time to practice so you can move from one to the next if you do not like how it is developing. I know this from experience! LOL I copic colored the fruit bowl as well and cut out. It is bent a bit and adhered with foam to give dimension. This set, Mixed Greetings has so many possibilities, it is one of three new sets FLOURISHES just released. I will have a project using one of the other sets tomorrow! Flourishes is offering a buy it all bundle too! Savings for you! Go check it out!
Please post a comment on the previous post to win awesome blog candy! And a shout out Happy One Year blog Anniversary to Sharon Johnson! Congratulations, my friend!

It's FLOURISH Time!

Look at this beautiful image from FLOURISHES new release, Mixed Greetings! This is one of the containers and one of the fillers! I experimented with my copics again and am starting to feel more comfortable with them! I have cards from this set using copics coming up tomorrow too! The floral container is stamped, cut out and slightly bent with foam adhesive to give it lift.
A row of beads are sewn on across the top edge of container. The slit punch adorned with a white punched circle and gem brad adds interest and holds the card closed.
Be sure and check out the other Flourish Design Team members for more creations!
Thanks so much for stopping by! And don't forget to VOTE here! I need all the help I can get! Take good care and stop back tomorrow for more copic coloring with images from this set!

Just Because Butterfly Moments

The butterfly image is from FLOURISHES set, Butterfly Moments. Copic markers are used to color image and the sparkle edges are achieved with a clear stardust gelly roll pen. Martha Stewart border punch and ticket corner punches used, along with some adhesive rhinestones. The sentiment is a SU rub on. The ribbon is from a package I received many moons ago! I love this ribbon, but the width lends itself to be cumbersome to attach and tie. This may not be new information to anyone, but I had one of those aha moments! I used my word window punch to create an opening to thread ribbon. No more ripping the card stock, when the hole is not large enough, no uneven cut line! It worked perfectly! Have a wonderful weekend! Don't forget FLOURISHES new releases next week! Take good care and thanks so much for stopping by!
