Since we are getting into the holiday mood, how about a holiday card? I Copic colored this little guy last December, and finally got him on a card! He is from a set called, The Wonder by Penny Black. I purchased my set at Joan's Gardens. My sentiment banner uses JustRite's Brayton font, then to cut banner out, I used a Spellbinders Labels Trio die. Cardstock is from Papertreyink, patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket. 5/8" Twill and Ribbon and jute string is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.
Thank you for stopping by! Love it when you do! I'll be back at midnight with my Stamp Simply Challenge creation! Take Good Care!

You've Got Mail- Gone Askew!

Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge this week is, Gone Askew. The challenge is so easy! Here is what you do, place your focal image askew on your card. No trying to center it perfectly, just place it askew.

So, for my card today, I decided to pull out one of my Melanie Muenchinger designed GinaK stamp sets, Tech Talk. I've not had a chance to play with this particular set, and I LOVE the laptop image! One of many perks to Melanie's sets, is the numerous stamps in each set, stuffed with so many options! There are endless possibilities! I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with Copics, W1, W5, C1, C3, BG10. I cut laptop image out and adhered to my green and grey paper. All solid colored designer papers are from Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage. The patterned designer paper is from October Afternoon's Report Card. You can find these papers for purchase HERE at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We hope you'll go askew with us this week! You can play anytime, as many times as you want! If you upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers, please use keyword, ssnotime140. And don't forget to upload over on Sharon's Mr Linky!
Thursday Ramblings!
Good Thursday Morning! Some random information to share today! First, I am beyond excited to get the opportunity to meet Debbie Olsen! Yup, you read that correctly! She is going to be teaching a Copic class on Saturday, June 12, in my hometown! I can hardly contain myself! Is is going to far to ask her for an autograph? I'll let you know how it goes. LOL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Secondly, a question answer. The paper used in the accordion gift card holder is October Afternoon's Ducks in a Row. It can be purchased HERE at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. I just noticed there are new October Afternoon papers now, and a SALE on lace ribbons. Check it out!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thirdly, I know I have not been posting regularly. There is a reason! I have been assisting my daughter with wedding preparations, mostly reception decor. I'm loving it, and will have a lot to share as we roll along. The reception is in late July. Think pink, brown, and lots of paper made items! SOOOO much fun but very time consuming. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it and want you to know how much it means to me! Have a great day and I'll be back at midnight with a Stamp Simply Challenge creation, think askew! Take good care!
Here is the completed inside of the accordion gift card holder I made for Sharon Johnson's Friday's Stamp Simply Challenge. HERE is that post! Each pocket has a removable piece. The first will be used to attach a gift card. (I have included glue dots for my friend to use) The second pocket is for a special written message, to and from, etc. And the third pocket will house a flat piece of yummy chocolate! A close of my stamped image. A simply Thank You on coordinating cardstock works well! Various pearls, buttons, punches create all the embellishments. Pretty easy! The gorgeous ribbon is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. It is 1" wide pink satin ribbon. And here is the JustRite set I took my stamped image from, Just A Note. This set can be found in The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store HERE. (scroll down the page a bit to locate) So there you have it! A wonderful way to present a special gift! Take good care!
And another angle of the front of the accordion! The buttons are sewn with my 1/8" silk ribbon, and the image buttons have a beautiful sheer polka dot ribbon. All ribbon is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store! *********************************************************************
Thanks so much for stopping by! Tomorrow I will show you the inside of this accordion gift card holder. ********************************************************************* Now on to my shabby project! I chose to embellish this tin star, that can easily be used as wall decor, set on a shelf, or kept flat on a table! I found this piece at my local Dollar General store! With Memorial Day around the corner, July 4th this summer, and wanting a bit of a patriotic theme, I thought this fit the bill perfectly!
Wanting to spell WELCOME, I went to my trusty 95pt Times New Roman font, included in this 2" Round Monogram kit, that also includes 4 borders & other size fonts. It's located HERE in The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. (scroll down a bit on the page to locate)
I used my Spellbinders Stars 5 Nestabilities to cut several stars, crinkled them for that shabby detail and stacked together to create a star embellishment. The gorgeous silk ribbon is found HERE at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store (scroll down a tad to see all the beautiful silk ribbons available!) Star paper is found in October Afternoon's Report Card paper pad, the decorative red on banner is from PinkPaislee's 365 degrees paper pad, both found HERE at The Stamp Simply Store too! Mother's Day, Paperweights, & JustRite, OH MY!
It's Friday, and time for Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge! Since it's Mother's Day weekend, the challenge is to make a card or project suitable for Mother's Day! Now, many of you do not wait until the last minute (like me!) and very well have all your cards created & signed and gifts bought & wrapped! So, if that is the case, make a card or project that is suitable for a female!!! I chose to make a 3D project this week, Mother's Day paperweights! I used one of JustRite's NEW April release sets, Kaleidoscope Borders & Centers (Round 2-3/8") This set is on sale too, a shopping bonus! I love the intricate patterns found in this set. Variations in coloring gives each design their own unique look, every time! Here are four combinations I stamped and colored. The top right center & lower left center are the same stamp! Look how different they appear! All with the use of Copic markers. The top row uses GinaK cardstock, the bottom row utilizes Papertreyink Vintage Cream cardstock. Memento Tuxedo black ink is used for stamping.
Let's start at the beginning of this super simple project! Here are the glass tealights I used for my paperweights. You can see on the package, how the glass tealight holders are meant to be used. I inverted the glass holder also pictured above, so the top is really the bottom of my paperweight.
Around the opening where you would normally set the tealight, I used 1/8" Scor-Tape (Joan's Gardens) around the edge to hold my stamped images. I peeled the tape strip, turned the glass over, positioning above my stamped punched image, and lightly pressed down.
After I was satisfied with the placement, I turned the glass over and ran my finger around where the tape was placed to firmly secure. Worked perfectly! And oh, so easy!
Looking through the bottom side of this glass piece (which is now the paperweight top) actually reduces the center image, instead of magnifying. So the images worked perfectly for this size tealight holder. Because the stamped borders are seen through the outer rim area of the glass, it appears a bit magnified.
Here is a side view to give you an idea of the height of the paperweight. When I make these again, I will add gems, pearls, etc. Because where the center sits is where the tealight would be placed, leaving empty space, which could certainly accommodate embellishments! Why didn't I think of that before!!! There you have it, the simplest paperweights I've ever made! And I love how they look too! Thanks for stopping by! Tomorrow, I have a long over due wall decor item to share, and a side note about where I've been lately! Be sure to check out all the Mother's Day creations by our talented Stamp Simply Designers! Be patient as all the designers get their creations uploaded! All should be up by morning! Remember to go to Sharon's blog to get all the Mr Linky and upload info! Sharon Johnson
