Accordion Card Gift Card Holder

Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Friday challenge is here! And this week we are making an accordion card...I chose to make my card a gift card holder as well! I saw the cutest glassine bags HERE and decided to incorporate the idea. Here is what I came up with.

My card measures 9" x 4 1/4" and is scored every three inches. You can get two from one 8 1/2 x 11" sheet. The small bags fit nicely on each panel. Inside each bag is a decorated tag, with two having a gift card adhered to the back with glue dots. This way I can write whatever sentiment I want on the front...and write on the front/back of the third tag. Cardstock is from Papertreyink and SU. All patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly. Ribbon is Papertreyink. SU label punch for the tag's tabs. Martha Stewart snowflake punch, adhesive pearls, and Hero Arts felt snowflakes create the snowflake embellishments. Keeping with the glassine theme here, I chose to use a larger bag for my card envelope. And of course add a JustRite tag with a gorgeous Sharon Johnson ribbon. The JustRite stamp used is from their Birthday Wishes Set along with my 2 3/8" round wooden stamper. I LOVE this gift card presentation, it seems more like a gift package, all ready for gift giving! Feeling Square

This week, Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge has to do with with shapes, namely the square. No rounded corners on todays card, so that means no oval or circular punches or die cuts. Your card must be square, and all layers having squared corners. Only your small embellishments can be round or oval. So if you are feeling a little square, today is your day! For my 4 1/4 x 4 1/4" card, I used my Penny Black set, THE WONDER. (purchased at Joan's Gardens)I love these little hedgehogs. And this guy is taking home his Christmas tree! The images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Copic colored. I added dazzling diamonds on the star for a bit of sparkle. No circle punch, but a button is the base for the star. DP is from Crafty Secrets, Earthy (purchased at Joan's Gardens) is the name of the pack. FlowerSoft was added to the tree branches. It adds so much dimension to the tree. Doesn't it make branches look real?

I also used my scor-pal to line emboss the diamond pattern in my paper and a white pen for the dots. It's subtle, but adds the perfect amount of interest. Ribbon is from Michaels, adhesive pearls, green buttons are from Making Memories, and SU linen thread.

Santa, Take A Bough...

Here is a Papertreyink card I made last week, utilizing, the set, Take A Bough. I turned one of the branch ornaments into a Santa head! I know...isn't he the cutest? And oh so simple! Here's what I did: I stamped my image on red cardstock with Papertreyink Fresh Snow. While still wet I sprinkled ultrafine prisma glitter for his beard, leaving the little circle for the mouth. Using my glue pen, I also went in and added more glitter. I wanted a solid glitter look for his beard. I think the design of the wave line separated the beard/mustache from the eye region beautifully. I wanted a solid red hat, so after cutting stamped image out, I trimmed off at the stamped line, leaving a triangle, that is turned over revealing solid cardstock, topped it with an adhesive pearl, added a pop dot and Santa now has his hat on!

I used my scorpal to add some interest along the card edges, and ground my sentiment; season's greetings. I LOVE how this turned out! So simple, clean and great use of a set I already had! And that's a good thing since my stamp purchasing has been limited after our move this year! Have you seen all the new PTI sets this year...I have a lot of catching up to do!!!

Santa Dear meets Stamp Simply Challenge109

Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge this week is to create a gatefold style card! Gatefolds are cards that fold on each side and meet in the middle (or off center if you like) and open like a gate. When thinking about this challenge, I had a layout pictured in my mind, but translated to paper, it didn't work as a regular gatefold. Mine is vertical, with the folds at the top and bottom of card! I fiddled forever trying! Don't know if we can really call this a gate fold card...but you get the idea! And the great thing about Sharon's challenges is to have FUN...no worries! So I think I'm OK!

Let's talk about supplies. Paper used: Papertreyink Vintage Cream and Aqua Mist, along with designer paper from Jolly by Golly/Cosmo Cricket (purchased from Ellen Hutson). AquaMist ribbon and button are also Papertreyink. My "Dear Santa" stamp is from BoBunny and I purchased this guy from Joan's Gardens. Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, distress ink (old paper) around edges. I colored his suit, with a dauber and chalk! I love to do this, and go back in using an eraser to remove extra chalk or where I went over the lines. I do lightly mist my chalked images with a matte finishing spray (or hair spray works too, remember lightly!) to seal the chalk and prevent it from rubbing off. The aqua mist panel is edge distressed, as are the circle papers on the embellishment.

Take a look at Santa's beard, with my glue pen, I applied FlowerSoft (ivory) to add a little dimension to his face! And a bit around his hairline and eyebrows! This "Dear Santa" card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" when closed. My top fold panel measures 4 1/4" from top edge of card stock. Leaving the bottom fold panel measuring 1 1/4" in from the bottom edge of card stock. DP is adhered on upper and lower panels, machine stitched as is the DP circle of button embellishment. The Santa panel and embellishment extends off the bottom edge allowing the lower panel to catch and stay closed, kinda like a gate latch! No, not really...LOL! 2Sketches4You and a $100 JustRite Giveaway!

I used my new Crafty Secrets paper, Earthy from their Heartwarming Vintage Collection. (purchased at Joan's Gardens) As you can see, I chose a pretty simple interpretation of the sketch!

And here is the JustRite set, CHRISTMAS JOY I used along with my 1 3/4 x 2 5/16" oval wooden block. I chose to use a circle punch to follow the sketch challenge. That's what I love about JustRite, the possibilities are endless! I Copic colored the bell image after stamping with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Old Paper Distress ink is placed around stamped image cardstock, Kraft paper, and patterned DP. Stampers Select White, Kraft, ribbon and button are from Papertreyink. Teal is SU.

Sweet Candy Corn!

One of my favorite things to do is using stamps for ideas other than what was intended. This card is a perfect example. I was browsing my Papertreyink stamps for a sentiment when I glanced at Take A Bough...I saw candy corn instead of bough ornaments! Maybe it's just that time of year...lol. Super simple 4x4 card. Starting with a Kraft cardstock card base and stamping the "Sweet" sentiment from Piece of Cake with watermark ink adds a bit of interest! I applied three ink colors liberally to the stamp, then went in with a sponge to muddy up where the inks met. Clear as mud? If you have any questions, please email. Gradient is Radiant!

My second attempt with Cath Edvalson's MOXIE FAB Challenge! Totally different from my first try. True, they both contain butterfly images! LOL This image is from Flourishes. I stamped my image then proceeded to Copic color.. Flower is MM, sentiment is from Papertreyink's Mixed Messages set, all patterned paper & cardstock with the exception of teal (SU) is also from PTI, as is the ribbon. A little stitching on my sew mini, a patterned paper liner for the envelope completes my creation!

Closeup of the butterfly, colored from light to dark, gradually! I also Copic colored pearls to add below the sentiment...this works great! I hope you enjoyed my Gradient is Radiant challenge creations! Be sure to check out the MOXIE FAB BLOG...you are in for a treat!

It's been a Gradient Radiant Kind of Day!

I have been wanting to play one of challenges over on Cath Edvalson's MOXIE FAB BLOG forrrr-evah! Well, today is the day! The challenge: Gradient is Radiant- an effect that is achieved where color changes gradually. Here's my take: I stamped my butterfly stamp from Inkadinkado's "Beauty Stems from Here" clear stamp set. (I purchased the set from Joan's Gardens) So...the yellow color is the stamped image, and the gradual coloring on the butterfly images is accomplished with Copics. Pretty simple! Colorbox chalk ink was used.

Using another image from the same set, I stamped along the bottom and right side of my Papertreyink Vintage Cream cardstock piece...then cut out utilizing my Spellbinders rectangle die. Here is a close up of the butterfly, and a peek at one of the french knots placed on the end of a stamped vine. All cardstock and ribbon is Papertreyink, flowers are MM, and the bakers string is Martha Stewart.

Krafty Black

For this card, I used my snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder on kraft cardstock, and machine stitiched around edges. I edged my white circle with Polar White FlowerSoft to mimic snow! The stamped images and ribbon are from Papertreyink. Tag is cut with my Spellbinders die. White plastice snowflakes are from JoAnn's, embellished with adhesive gems.

Singing Hedgehog

My first Penny Black stamp set! I have always adored this little hedgehog! Isn't he cute! This is one of the sets I took with me last week and colored to my hearts content! So, more of this little guy to come! The set is called "the wonder" and includes their little mouse image too. I purchased this set when I visited my friend, Joan Fricker of Joan's Gardens, a wonderful store- Indiana storefront and online store- with excellent service. Go check it out! The hedgehog is copic colored...I had my copics all over the bed at the resort and placed them back in the container before writing down the letter/numbers. I love Cosmo Cricket papers and recently purchased Early Bird, Jolly by Golly from Ellen Hutson. I also backed my clear button with the Cosmo Cricket polka dot paper and tied it with Martha Stewart bakers string. There is FlowerSoft added to brown/black portion of his body! It gives the little guy a bit more dimension!
