TODAY'S BLOG CANDY
Leslie Miller - Running with Scissors - Leslie has some BLOG CANDY for you today!
Sharon Johnson -No Time To Stamp? - More BLOG CANDY just for you!
Pictured is the entire set of coasters, the paper mache 4 inch round container they fit into. I tilted the container so you can see the top in this picture. There are 6 coasters, and I found this kit when I was on vacation this past summer! It is from the company, Rivertown Warehouse. I LOVED working with this felt applique.
Here is a close up of the round box. It is covered with Fruitcake Basic Grey dp. I edged the bottom strip with a Martha Stewart border punch. For the lid rim, I stamped with my JUST RITE Brayton font, 50 pt. on the reverse side of the holly dp. There was extra felt and I decided to make a mini snowman for the lid! As I was finishing, I thought this would make a darling pin! So, I secured a mini safety pin on the back and that is how it is attached to the bow. It can be taken off and worn if the recipient so desires!
I was having so much fun with this felt, I wanted to try and replicate the snowman again and create a candle cozy for this adorable dollar candle I found at Dollar General! I LOVE how this turned out too!
Here is a close up of the candle and cozy! Ribbon is from Michael's, felt holly is from American Crafts, Holiday House. All black stitching is DMC emroidery floss.
A closer look at the candle and coaster. Each coaster has it's own personality as they are individually stitched and each time the mouths a bit came out a bit different, the checks and nose were higher or lower than the rest.
Don't they just make you smile? Have you ever looked at a snowman and not wanted to smile! They warm my heart and that is why I love them so! Throughout the winter months, my 30 year snowmen collection comes out from hiding! And just like ornaments, I remember, and recall years of memories unfold as I place each treasure around my home!

Barb, these are just adorable - but you won't let anyone use them, will you? (lol). That would be like actually sending a card after you made it! Seriously, love the snowmen, and I really like the "wrap" you made for the candle. Too cute!

Barb, this is absolutely adorable! The coasters, the candle wrap, the pin... what a WONDERFUL gift! Your blanket stitching is fabulous! That is so time-consuming (I know!) but worth it in the end as it creates such a nice look! Way to go on a stunning project!
P.S. I'll have to email you a picture of some snowman ornaments very similar to your designs that I made a few years ago! You might have a new project to complete, then!

these are amazing wow
Barb, These are terrific! Are the coasters just felt and minimal padding or is there a harder core to them? Terrific idea for the candle and I'll adopt that today for a quick gift to a friend of ours who also collects snowmen. I know she doesn't have one like that!! I saw the felt and immediately looked at our tree. Nearly 40 years ago, felt was really popular and I made a set of "swinging" felt ornaments for the tree. They were like marionettes, the parts connected with embroidery thread strings. I love working with felt. Super cute idea. Thanks so much for sharing.
